North Koreans pay their respects before a monument of Kim Il Sung at Mansu Hill in Pyongyang, North Korea on Thursday, the eve of the 99th anniversary of his birthday. April 15, a public holiday in the country, is called 'The Day of the Sun' in honour of the former guerilla fighter who founded North Korea in 1948. He is officially referred to as the 'Great Leader'.
